2025 Honoree Announced

Hillsboro Health announced this year’s recipient of The DAISY Award at a ceremony on October 9. Rebecca "Becky" Stare, BSN, RN, CMSRN, was recognized for providing compassionate care demonstrated through her dedication, empathy and commitment to patients.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors the extraordinary skill and compassionate care nurses provide every day. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes in 1999 after he passed away from complications of an autoimmune disease. Grateful for the care Patrick received, his family created the award to thank nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of patients and families.

“The DAISY Award is a powerful reminder of the impact nurses have on patients and families,” said Hillsboro Health Director of Outpatient Services Julie Smith, MSN, RN, CNOR. “We are thrilled to honor Becky and recognize the dedication she brings to Hillsboro Health.”

Becky joined the Hillsboro Health team in May of 2025 as swing bed coordinator for the new Healing You Home program. Becky has more than 15 years of nursing experience in critical care, medical-surgical, perioperative and case management. In her free time, Becky volunteers at Shadow Home, a women and children’s shelter in Taylorville, the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight and the Central Illinois Nurse Honor Guard.
